Zouma on life at Chelsea

Zouma today spoke to the Chelsea website and here is what he had to say:

Zouma who turned 20 yesterday started off by telling the website his thoughts on tonight’s game, he recalls on when he played similar matches in the cup while playing in France.

‘I played a lot of those games and it was always very difficult,Â’ he recalls. ‘It would often be a small stadium with a small pitch and all the fans screaming and shouting at you for the whole game. But thatÂ’s not an excuse today.

It will be a very difficult game because we know they will be very determined. We have to play as a big team with lots of determination of our own.

‘We also have to concentrate very hard because if you don’t do that you will lose the game. It’s as simple as that. Lower league teams are very hungry and they want to make an impact against big players and big teams. It will be very difficult but we have to win.’

He then shares his thoughts on his first starts for Chelsea; his first against Bolton in the capital one cup 3 rd round then a few weeks later in the champions league group stage side vs Maribor.

‘Bolton was my first game at Stamford Bridge and I was very happy to score my first goal too,’ he smiles. ‘We won the game as well. If I score again today I will be very happy. I hope I do!

‘Then to play in my first Champions League game was amazing. We played very good football and we put on a good spectacle in front of our fans. Everybody was feeling very good about it.

ItÂ’s nice because I played against Bolton with Gary Cahill and against Maribor I played with John Terry. They are two big players, two of the very best defenders in the world.

‘I like to play with them. It’s very important for me and I learn a lot every time I play or I train with them.’

He concludes the interview with how he feels on life at Chelsea so far.

‘All the people are very friendly and funny,’ he explains with one of those trademark grins in his ever-improving English. ‘They make it easy for me.’

‘I live near the training ground but I sometimes go to London which is a very cool and very special place. All is good here. I like this club so much and I am really enjoying it.’
