Transfer Window – Possible Targets

The recent defeat to an average Newcastle side shows how The Blues cannot be the perfect team that The Special One is attempting to build. So maybe we need to start thinking about what can improve, is it time for transfers this January?

I’m going to go through possible January purchases and that could improve our side.

1) Raphael Varane – Real Madrid

The Real Madrid CB is arguably one of the best young defenders around. He has stated that he isn’t happy with the amount of game-time that he’s receiving as he’s up against the likes of Sergio Ramos and Pepe. I believe Varane could be a long term replacement for John Terry, although some say Kurt Zouma can fill that roll, but I think Varane is already the complete player to do so. There has also been some recent speculation surrounding Varane and Chelsea previously.

2) Marco Reus – Borrusia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund - Training & Press Conference

Everyone knows how much of a talent Reus can be. Although Willian is a world class player and always puts in 110% each game, Reus could improve on that. His buy out clause is only £20million! Which is more than affordable for Chelsea with Abramovic’s wealth. He’s most likely to go to Bayern Munich following the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze, and especially with Borussia Dortmunds recent form sitting in the bottom half of the Bundesliga table.

3) Paul Pogba – Juventus

The Juventus holding midfielder played a key part in Juventus’s triumph in Seria A last season. It’s no doubt that he’s a world class player, but would he fit into the team? Could he replace Cesc Fabregas? Personally, I don’t think so, but Fabregas has caused a few errors for us, for example against Liverpool, he caused the error to let Emre Can take the shot because he was out of position and not tracking back. Although Fabregas’s stats this season that prove that he is vital to Mourinho’s plan. So maybe this transfer is a little less likely.
