Schalke v Chelsea – Match Preview

Chelsea will travel to Germany to face Schalke 04 on Tuesday night seeking the win that will nothing more than confirm their top spot of the Group G

Schalke 04 coach Roberto Di Mateo will face his former team and it could yet be an emotional evening for the blues. However, the man who brought the Champions league to Stamford Bridge from Munich in 2012, said he won’t be relying on this, and hopes his team can create some trouble against Chelsea.

Schalke 04 currently sit 7th, in the Bundesliga, having won their last game, on Saturday, at home against Wolfsburg. Meanwhile Chelsea, sit 1st of the Premier League table, and the least we can say is that the blues also arrive to Germany very fresh from a 2-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion.

Current best goal scorer is Diego Costa, having netted 11 times this season, while his fellow Spanish teammate, Cesc Fabregas, who left Barcelona this summer to join Chelsea, has provided 10 assist in 12 matches.

Schalke 04 are well aware, of ChelseaÂ’s threat and know that MourinhoÂ’s side are simply one the best teams at the moment, having won 14 games out of 18 matches played in total this season including Champions League and with their last defeat, back in April against Atletico Madrid.

The German team will be without their most important and influential player Julian Daxler, who remains sidelined after he picked up a thigh injury last month. The list isnÂ’t long but a few other such as Jefferson Farfan and Fabian Giefer are both out due to injuries they sustained last week..

Kevin Prince Boateng and Klaas Jan Huntelaar will both have to be very careful if they are to play the final game of the knockout stages, whatever the outcome might be tomorrow as they are both a booking away from a suspension.

The blues have no injury concerns after Loic Remy recoverd well enough from his groin injury sustained a couple of weeks ago.

The kick off for the game is 7:45pm at the Veltins Arena
