The atmosphere at stamford bridge in my opinion has the potential to be greatly improved, there are a number of features which can be implement to fulfil this overall plan to improve the quality of the atmosphere.
Firstly, moving the away supports away from the shed and re-locating them in the east stand this is how it used to be, and how in my opinion in should be again as the shed and the Matthew Harding are both special to the club and are sacred chelsea territory the shed hold around 6,000 supporters, however during premier league games about half of the east side of the shed is given to away supporters. This needs to change and the shed needs to become fully chelsea again like the days before 2006.
Secondly, Safe standing is a petition is an idea where supports will have the option to stand again and to create a more supportive atmosphere during home games. The hillsborough disaster of March 1989 saw the Taylor report concluding that standing was un-safe and in 1994 the shed end demolished the terraces and stamford bridge became an all seater stadium. Safe standing still has seats however they can be folded away and this in my opinion is a good compromise between the safety of the supporters and the quality of the atmosphere being improved.
Finally ticket prices could be set at cheaper rates in order to attract more supporters. For example the shed and Matthew Harding should have junior ticket prices in order to attract the largest amount of people every game. Chelsea as a club have reward season ticket holders by freezing the for a season ticket for the past few years, however ticket prices for individual matches could be lower and with the investment by the owner and the money coming in from television rights and competitions we play in, we surely turnover enough money to compensate for any loss in profit made from ticket sales.
In conclusion jose bought up the point about our atmosphere after the Galatasaray game saying if we could get 10% of the atmosphere created in the Turk Telecom arena than he would be happy. This shows us how much he values a good atmosphere at stamford bridge and i’m sure the players do as well.
