Jose Mourinho has insisted that Juan Mata remains an important part of his plans at Chelsea and will not be going anywhere.

Spanish playmaker Mata has been one of the Blues’ star men since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Valencia in 2011 but has this summer been linked with a move away from the club.

Mourinho has a wealth of options at his disposal in Mata’s position and Chelsea’s £30milion move for Anzhi Makhachkala’s Willian has increased speculation that somebody will now have to be sold.

Mata was an unused substitute in Monday’s goalless draw at Manchester United but Mourinho insisted after the match there was no truth in rumours of a possible departure.

“He is very important for me and very important for Chelsea,” said Mourinho.

“The stories that are coming out are nonsense stories. He goes nowhere.”

Fresh reports have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur may try and swoop for Mata if Gareth Bale moves on, while Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has admitted he is an admirer of Mata, but has played down talk of a transfer by admitting he would probably cost too much.

“Mata is a good player but he’s playing in the Premier League and over there they pay a lot,” Cerezo is quoted as saying in The Sun.

Chelsea news was founded by Daniel Vernon. Why Chelsea News? Daniel has followed the Blues from a young age experiencing its many weird and wonderful changes. He grew up watching the likes of Dennis Wise, Gianfranco Zola and has witnessed the more recent impact of Abramovich investment. Controversially prefers Rafael Benitez to Jose Mourinho but nobody’s perfect. One of his biggest sporting achievement is winning an accumulator on betway.com that required Fernando Torres to score his debut goal for Chelsea after going 903 minutes without scoring!

A clear irrational love of Chelsea combined with interest in website design and technology meant Chelsea News was almost an inevitability. The news he gathers are either written by him or from reliable blogs or news sites. With the Android and iPhone app you can keep up to date with Chelsea News wherever you are.

When he is not working on CN Daniel is a devoted father and pursues various other online projects, like Pleo.
