Mourinho: Cech AND Courtois to stay and play

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is delighted to have Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois as his goalkeepers for next season, ending speculation over the former’s future.

There has been vast amounts of rumours regarding Cech’s future, with many believing he will be moved on to make way for Courtois to become the number one shot stopper at Stamford Bridge.

However, Mourinho claims he has no plans to part ways with Petr Cech, and will instead use him along side Courtois in next season’s squad.

Courtois has spent three very successful seasons on loan to Atltico Madrid and has become known as one of the best goalkeepers around, while Cech is still highly regarded in Premier League football as one of the top shot stoppers.

Cech has been untouchable in his no. 1 position at Stamford Bridge since making his debut for The Blues a decade ago, but the return of Courtois had threatened not only his place at the top, but also his place at the club.

Cech made his return to action after injury on Wednesday night in a friendly, after which Mourinho claimed his “situation for the season in fantastic.”

“To have Cech and Courtois means we have the best young goalkeeper in the world and one of the top three or five most experienced keepers. For me and Chelsea, it’s perfect.”

“Maybe one of them won’t be happy, but Chelsea supporters will be happy and they’re more important than players.”

To have Cech and Courtois is fantastic. One will play, and Chelsea are in safe hands because they are both very good players.

It is extremely likely that Courtois will be the most common choice in goal for the Blues this season, simply due to the fact that he has not been sent out for a fourth loan spell.

However, if Mourinho gets his way, this doesn’t spell the end to Petr Cech’s Chelsea career. However, it must be remembered that Mark Schwarzer, another very able goalkeeper, recently signed a new deal that keeps him with the Blues for another season.
