Hazard close to signing long-term deal

Goal’s Chief Football Correspondent, Wayne Veysey, claims that Chelsea star Eden Hazard is close to securing his long-term future at the club by signing a new 5 year deal that would make him the highest paid Chelsea player in the club’s history.

In the wake of new deals for Chelsea duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea are reportedly closer to tying star man Eden Hazard down to a new long term deal.

Hazard signed on a 5-year deal following Chelsea’s Champions League triumph in 2012 but, after an anxious summer over the winger’s future, it’s no secret that Chelsea are desperate for him to commit to the Blues.

The 23 year old contributed 13 goals and 24 assists in his first season in London before going on to get 17 goals and 10 assists last campaign.

Such performances of course drew interest and clubs including PSG were eyeing the Frenchman up during this year’s summer transfer window.

However, after managing to keep their prize possession, Chelsea are now working towards securing a new and improved deal for the Belgian.
