Frankfurt Looking to Extend Piazon’s Stay in Germany

The German outfit have revealed that they are looking to extend Lucas Piazon’s stay Germany. Since joining the London based team in 2012, Piazon has only had three outings with the first team and in those three he assisted twice.

The Brazilian has also been sent out on loan with Spanish side Malaga, while Manuel Pellegrini was in charge, and at Vitesse Arnhem, where he was with fellow Chelsea loanees Christian Atsu, Patrick Van Aanholt, and Bertrand Traoré.

All of which are either still out on loan or have been sold permanently. The former São Paulo man is now enjoying regular football with the first team Germany and is starting to look a bit more like the player that Chelsea want him to develop into.

Piazon is sometimes compared with his compatriot Kaká for his style of play, but Piazon claims that they are completely different players. Piazon tends to be a bit more direct and prefers to pass than to dribble, unlike many Brazilians.

Furthermore, Piazon is also more of a winger or a second striker, unlike Kaká, who is more of a central midfielder. Even though Piazon can play down the middle, he prefers to be out on the wing or up front either as a second striker or sometimes as the lone striker, as seen with Vitesse last season.

Piazon has impressed at his adopted club and the front office has taken notice. His contribution to Eintracht Frankfurt has prompted the Frankfurt General Manager, Bruno Hubner, to want to extend Piazon’s loan with them by saying:

“We will be looking to discuss things with Chelsea.

“Chelsea might hand him another loan year at our club. That would be what we are looking for because I think the Bundesliga is currently the best platform for Lucas Piazon.”

Piazon recently scored his first goal for Frankfurt vs Hamburg, this goal was also the game winning free-kick in the final moments of the match. The 40-yard set piece was also taken with tremendous accuracy and style.

Piazon has potential and can still become the player he was once primed to be by many. He might not stay forever with Chelsea, since they already have a ridiculously good attacking midfield, but he surely does deserve a chance to prove to the world that he is a top attacker with a lot of talent and skill.

It might best for both Chelsea and Frankfurt to extend his loan deal for one more year and in the end see if he is worth bringing back to SW6 or if it better for Piazon and Chelsea to part ways and let the former continue with his hopefully successful career.
