Demba Ba completes Besiktas move

Striker Demba Ba has today completed his move to Turkish club Besiktas, moving from Chelsea for around £6 million.

It was announced that the clubs had agreed a fee for the striker on Tuesday, and after a medical and personal terms being finalised, Ba is now a Besiktas player.

The fee is believed to be in the region on £6 million, which will reportedly be paid by the Turkish club in 5 separate installments.

After signing from Newcastle in January 2013, Ba scored 14 goals for the club and was vital in getting Chelsea to last season’s Champions League semi-final and securing third place in the league.

Chelsea said on their official website:

Everybody at Chelsea Football Club would like to thank Demba for his service and wish him all the best in the future.

Ba’s move away from the Bridge had become inevitable after finding himself behind Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o in the pecking order for much of last season at the Bridge.

And, with the recent arrival of Diego Costa, Ba’s season and a half at the Bridge was bought to an end as he moved to a new challenge in Istanbul.

There are rumours that Chelsea will now be looking for another striker to add to their array of options up top, with the future of Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku still unclear.
