Cuadrado deal close

Just over a week ago Sky Sport News reported that Chelsea were in talks with Fiorentina over the potential signing of Cuadrado.

Mourinho has continued to claim there will be no new signings this transfer window unless somebody leaves.

But in the last couple of days Fiorentina have said that Cuadrado can only leave the club if somebody meets his buy out clause of €35 million. This is approximately ÂŁ26.4 million. It will be up to Mourinho to decide whether he feels this is a reasonable price for the Columbian winger.

Sky sports also reported earlier this week that Cuadrado is keen for a move to Chelsea, however his national manager claimed he would suit Barcelona more.

But like Mourinho has said if anybody was going to come in this transfer window, another player would have to leave.

Wolfsburg have confirmed they are in talks with Chelsea over a move for Andre Schurrle. There have also been links with Salah moving away from Chelsea on loan, but reports on Salah haven’t been confirmed as of yet.

Cuadrado has scored 4 goals and also assists 4 in 17 appearances in the league this season. That is the same amount of goals Schurrle, Willian and Salah have scored in the league combined.

Cuadrado also had an excellent World Cup 2014, he made 3 assists meaning he was joint 2nd highest for the tournament. The Columbian also scored 1 goal and his performances helped the team to a memorable tournament.

If Cuadrado was to sign he would probably take Willian’s place in the starting 11 and he would definitely offer a more attacking style of play to Willian, but Willian’s defensive work rate is certainly something which would be missed in the side.
