Chelsea star up for double Player of the Year award

Eden Hazard has been rewarded for his fine form for Chelsea this season after being nominated for both of the PFA’s Player of the Year awards.

The Belgian winger will be in contention for the ‘Player of the Year’ and ‘Young Player of the Year’ awards following a brilliant season in which he has helped Chelsea fire up the Premier League table.

It is the second season in a row in which Hazard has done enough to be nominated for both awards, although he missed out on both last year as Tottenham’s Gareth Bale took both home.

He has been in fine form this season, racking up 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions, which has been a major part in Chelsea’s contention for both the Premier League and Champions League crowns.

The 23-year-old will face stiff competition in the form of three Liverpool players, including former Chelsea player Daniel Sturridge who, despite being 24, is nominated for the YPOTY award.

Whatever the outcome of the awards, Hazard will certainly be a favourite to take home Chelsea’s Player of the Year award and has been a key man in whatever successes this season is yet to bring to the football club.

Hazard was the only Chelsea player to be found on either list, sparking questions from Chelsea fans as to why none of their side’s sterling defenders, especially John Terry, didn’t make the cut.

The full list of nominees can be found below:

Player of the Year: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Luis Suarez (Liverpool), Yaya Touré (Man. City), Eden Hazard (Chelsea).

Young Player of the Year: Ross Barkley (Everton), Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Eden Hazard (Chelsea).
