Chelsea Player of the Year

Who will be Chelsea Player of the Year?

Outstanding performances. Goals. Assists. Skill. Leadership.

These are some of the things you’d need to win the prestigious award. Who are the players we can give as sure bankers to be nominated?

John Terry – Captain. Leader. Legend. These are the words the Chelsea fans use to describe this iconic figure who has been the solid at the back for the past 10 years. With a little relapse last season due to injury, John looks to want to pay back his dues to the team with outstanding performances all through the season. His leadership qualities have helped stabilise the back four no matter who he lines up against. Aerial prowess, Dominant tackles, Clearances are just few of the things this Legend does to earn himself a spot.

Cesar Azpilicueta – An unsung hero, the most underrated player in the Chelsea squad. Helping in the attacks, being defensive minded and playing out of position are not things you find in a regular defender. Starting off at the right wing and rivaling Ivanovic, José converted him into a left back, at the same time shutting out Ryan Bertrand and Ashley Cole from the starting eleven. His speed, stamina, balance and warrior-like characteristics have helped him cement his place amongst his peers and even gaining a place in the Spanish squad.

Gary Cahill – A part of the best centre back pairing in the league and probably one of the best in the world. Gary Cahill has been exceptional this season, even being tipped as the next captain. Arriving from Bolton for 7 Million pounds in 2012, he has proved to be a fan and coach favourite. Keeping it at this season, he has hardly put a foot wrong and proved his class in vital games against the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham including an outstanding performance against Manchester City.
Definite nominee.

Eden Hazard – Can’t really describe his contribution to us this season. Incredible. Magnificent. He’s the complete package. Having been denied several POTM Awards, he’s currently up for the award once again.
A hattrick against Newcastle United, taking the penalty to save our home record, those are just his highlights. After being over shadowed for most of the early stages of the season by Oscar, Hazard proved his worth with assists and a scorcher against Liverpool. Coming into the New Year, he put Man City in their place, came up with some sensational displays while bagging his first hattrick and with 13 goals so far with more to come including the Champions League, I tip him as the winner so far.

Other Candidates –

Willian
Oscar
Petr Cech
Nemanja Mati?
Branislav Ivanovic
