With speculation building over the last few days, the interest has now been confirmed.
The proposed fee is said to be in the region of £27m, although no bid has been officially announced.
The potential move comes after news of interest in Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle from a number of European clubs; the deal could mean the departure of the World Cup winner for a similar fee.
