Chelsea agree to Demba Ba sale

Reports today state that Chelsea have agreed a fee with Turkish side Besiktas for the sale of striker Demba Ba.

Reports such as that from the Daily Mail state that the fee is around Ł8 million which will see Ba move to the Istanbul side.

Fikret Orman, president of Besiktas, has confirmed that talks have been succesful with Chelsea and they hope to seal Demba Ba’s serivces as soon as possible.

Orman reportedly said:

Demba ba is an excellent player. We have been in talk with Chelsea for a long time over bringing him to Istanbul.

“Talks are ongoing. Chelsea initially wanted £10 million but we have negotiated a price we are happy with.”

“We’ll tell the media once the final deal is done”, Orman finished.

Demba Ba joined Chelsea from Newcastle in January of 2013 for a fee believed to be around ÂŁ7 million.

He scored twice on his debut and hit the ground running at Chelsea but playing time and goals dried up, especially as he headed into his first full season with the Blues last term.

Ba has had a largely troubled time at Chelsea, as he often found himself as third choice behind Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o, but he had a strong finish to the season, which saw Chelsea reach the Champions League semi finals and clinch third place in the league.

His finest moment must surely be the last gasp winner against PSG that saw Chelsea progress to the last four in the Champions League. He also famously made the most of a Gerrard slip to hinder Liverpool’s title hopes at Anfield in a 0-2 win for the Blues.

However, with the arival of Diego Costa at Chelsea, it certainly seems sensible for all parties for Ba to move on, while he is still in relatively high demand and Chelsea can hope to make a profit on the Senegalese front man.

Despite reported interest from Everton, who look set to lose Lukaku from his loan spell at Goodison, Besiktas have confirmed that they have agreed a fee for the 29 year old and hope to confirm the deal soon.
