Bristol Rovers to visit Chelsea in the EFL Cup 2nd round

Chelsea will play at home in the second round of the EFL Cup against Bristol Rovers, following their extra-time win against Championship side Cardiff City at the Memorial Ground tonight.

The League One side are to visit Stamford Bridge on the week commencing August 22nd.

The last time Chelsea took on the Gas was back in the 1980/81 season in Division 2, when The Blues beat the West Country side 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Ticket details for this clash will be announced on the official club’s website in due course.

If Bristol Rovers failed to beat their Championship opponents tonight, it could have been Bristol City that took the trip to West London, following their first round 1-0 win against Wycombe Wanderers yesterday evening.

In other news, Chelsea’s bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has been rejected by the Italian side, but the player in question is said to be interested in a move to West London. The Blues are set to make another bid in due course.
