Reaction: Everton 3-1 Chelsea

Chelsea suffered yet another Premier League defeat at Everton on Saturday, leaving us with just four points from 5 matches this season – our worst start since 1988.

  • Chelsea comfortable in possession early on, with Mikel and Matic looking like a solid partnership to protect our defence.
  • Everton take the lead with quarter of an hour played. Ivanovic fails to stop the cross once more and substitute Naismith, unmarked in the box, heads it past Begovic. Zouma has to do better with his marking.
  • Moments later, Begovic denies Koné and McCarthy with two incredible saves. At this point, it could have been game over already.
  • Naismith doubles Everton’s lead with a brilliant strike from 20 yards. Once again it’s Ivanovic, arms behind his back, who fails to close down the attacker. Poor.
  • Their second goal has given Everton extra confidence and they’re bossing the game now. A third goal before HT would certainly clinch the three points
  • OH MY WORD! Matic has other ideas and finds the top corner with a beautiful left-footed strike from 30 yards! Chelsea are back in the game.
  • Mourinho makes an early attacking change in the second half, with Kenedy replacing Mikel, who had a solid game for Chelsea today.
  • Chelsea with a very slow start to the second half, Everton looking more likely to score the next goal.
  • Our midfield has been all over the place since Mikel left the pitch. It doesn’t look like a positive substitution after all.
  • Naismith gets his hat-trick late on to kill off Chelsea. A fully deserved victory for the home side.
