Mourinho: Mentality is important

Jose Mourinho believes that the key thing for Chelsea to end the season on a high note is their mentality.

The blues have already won the Capital One Cup this season and would be hoping to add the Premier League. The last time Chelsea won the double was during the 2011-2012 season, when they clinched the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

With eight matches to go, Chelsea top the league with 70 points and a seven-point lead over second-place Arsenal. The Chelsea boss emphasised that his players are feeling comfortable and are ready to fight for the ultimate prize.

Mentality is important because now is the moment where everything is decided – for relegation, the Champions League places and the title.

“You can do amazingly well for seven, eight, nine months but the moment of truth always arrives and the moment of truth for us is get the wins we need to be champions,” the 52-year-old is quoted as telling Goal.com.

So to be mentally strong but, at the same time, be comfortable with the situation is very important.

“I think people are comfortable. I look at the players and see people who are relaxed to play these last two months – to fight for the title is the best motivation you can have in the game.”
