Drogba could miss start of the season

Chelsea’s talismanic forward is set to miss the Premier League curtain raiser after sustaining an injury in the Blues’ pre-season friendly against Ferencvaros.

José Mourinho’s men once again came from behind to secure victory in the newly opened Groupama Arena, with both Ramires and Fabregas providing goals of the highest quality.

It was Didier Drogba’s awkward landing in the first half however, that could rule the Ivorian out of Chelsea’s opener against Premier League new boys, Burnley.

With Diego Costa enjoying a fine pre-season, the Brazilian born Spaniard was always likely to start at Turf Moor on Monday, but Mourinho would’ve liked to have emerged from pre-season with a squad relatively unscathed.

There is no clear indication into the damage Didier Drogba might’ve done as of yet, but the Blues favourite is likely to miss the beginning of the end of his Chelsea romance – a sour note to an otherwise enjoyable pre-season tour.
