Why Chelsea should sign Brazilian Forward

Chelsea have made their intention pretty clear for next season by signing the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa but Jose Mourinho may still add a couple of more signings before the new season begins.

Roberto Firmino is one of those players that Chelsea needs to snap up right now. The talented youngster had a fantastic season for Hoffenheim in the league last season. He was involved in 27 goals in 33 appearances (16 goals and 11 assists), that’s 6 more than any other Chelsea player.

Despite being the top scoring Brazilian in Europe last campaign, Firmino was unfortunate to miss out on Brazil’s World Cup squad.

Although FirminoÂ’s preferred position is behind the striker as an attacking midfielder, his versatility makes him able to play as a central striker at times. He played 4 games as a striker in the league last season, scoring 2 goals and made 2 assists.

Its important to highlight that Eden Hazard (59%) is the only Chelsea player who had a better shot accuracy than Firmino (56%). He also created 70 chances for Hoffenheim, only Hazard (92) created more for Chelsea.

Firmino’s incredible footwork makes him able to skip past players with ease, making it difficult for other players to stop him. He completed 147 dribbles last season, that’s 15 more than Eden Hazard who had the most in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho will be impressed with his defensive capabilities as well, having won 78 tackles which is more than any other Chelsea player. Only five players won more interceptions than Firmino and only three players won more aerial duels than him for the Blues.

The 22-year-old Brazilian is just an year older than Lukaku, and with the Belgium youngsterÂ’s attitude and wanting a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent months, its time we sell him and sign Firmino who could turn out to be one of the brightest talents in the future.
