Filipe Luis to force Stamford Bridge move

Atletico Madrid full-back Filipe Luis is determined to cut off all ties with his current club to force a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 28-year-old has already turned down a new deal offered by Atletico several weeks ago as the defender has set his sights to continue his career at Chelsea.

Stat Attack: Sabaly (111) is the only defender that has won more tackles than Filipe Luis (107) across Europe’s top five leagues last season.

The Blues have been chasing the Brazilian left-back since releasing Ashley Cole at the end of the season. However, La Liga champions insist that none of their players will be leaving the club without first paying their release clause.

Filipe Luis has a buy-out clause of €24m in his contract, and now the defender has taken the matters into his own hands by refusing to make contact with his current club until they agree to sell him.

Reports in Spain suggest that Luis is unhappy with his current wages, and wants to make the move to Chelsea to boost his reputation and international chances, as well as to challenge for more titles.

Jose MourinhoÂ’s raid on Atletico Madrid is set to continue after signing Diego Costa, as he wants to finalize a deal for Filipe Luis and Tiago as well.
