The news just keeps on coming for Chelsea fans this summer. Chelsea are now being linked with a move for one of the best performers from this World Cup.
Ricardo Rodriguez may only be 21 years of age, but he has put on some scintillating performances for the Swiss this summer in Brazil. Against the likes of Argentina, Rodriguez, who currently plays Wolfsburg, has been shining on the pitch at both international and club level all season long.
Over the past couple of days, it has been rumoured that Chelsea have been unwilling to pay out Filipe Luis’s buy out. Rodriguez is seen as a back up option incase the deal ends up not completing, but make no mistake — Rodriguez is a huge talent. He is also eight years younger than Luis meaning Chelsea would most likely get more out of him than they would from Luis, and he is also likely to come at a cheaper price.
On top of that, with Chelsea doing business with Bundesliga side VFLWolfsburg during the January Transfer window just gone regarding Kevin De Bruyne, it is likely that both clubs are already on good terms and could agree a deal relatively quickly.
