Chelsea midfielder on the verge of joining Wigan

Chelsea’s George Saville appears to be on the verge of joining Wigan Athletic according to the Sunday People. The 21-year-old looks set to be reunited with manager Uwe Rosler, having worked with the German at Brentford.

During his loan spell at Brentford Saville managed an impressive 40 appearances scoring a total of three goals. Saville can also play as a left-back and it is clear that he has impressed Rosler. Saville will be joining the latics on loan and will certainly be hoping to star in the Championship.

Saville joined Chelsea in 2004 from Reading, and progressed through the Chelsea academy. He was awarded a place in Chelsea’s first team in 2012 handed the number 56 shirt. Despite not making a single appearance for the blues, he was called up to the Club World Cup where he was an unused substitute.

It would be brilliant for Saville’s development to have a fantastic season at Wigan, which would hopefully earn him similar recognition to Patrick Bamford who looks set to feature for Chelsea next season following a marvellous season at MK Dons and Derby County.

Good luck Saville! Up the Chels!
