Michael Ballack: Frank Lampard a Chelsea Legend

Former Chelsea star Michael Ballack has paid tribute to Frank Lampard who confirmed yesterday that he would be leaving his beloved club after 13 years.

Ballack spent four years with Lampard during which Chelsea won their first league and cup Double.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Michael Ballack said that Frank Lampard leaves Chelsea as a “legend” with nothing left to achieve.

“He’s now at an age where he can be more relaxed; he’s achieved everything with Chelsea. He’s a legend there – and also for England.”

“He’s in a good position. He should think about what he wants; does he want success in sport still, to play at the highest level? Or does he want to enjoy life?”

“I think he’ll have a lot of offers. He’s experienced enough to make the right decision.”

“Maybe it’s not bad if he plays a few years somewhere else and gains influences from outside England – but I think there will always be a place at Chelsea for him in the future.”

The club, along with players, managers and fans, have paid their tribute to the departing legend. Lampard has won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League during his remarkable career with the Blues.

It’s not only the titles that speak about his impressive career, it’s the number of records he has set during this time. Frank Lampard is Chelseas all time top scorer with 211 goals (in all competitions) and the highest scoring midfielder in the Premier League history with 171 goals. He has also scored the most goals (147) and provided the most assists (90) for Chelsea in the Premier League.

Lampard will forever be missed at Chelsea, nothing but respect for everything he has done for the club. Thank You Sir. Frank Lampard.
