Chelsea players to look out for this World Cup season

With the World Cup looming just around the corner, the time for players to really show what they are capable of is now.

The World Cup is a great advert for any player to impress and perhaps attract interest from various big name clubs around the world. Lukaku, Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are the obvious ones to look out for in the Belgium squad with Oscar and Willian, our boys in Brazil, most likely in search for a first World Cup triumph since 2002.

Gary Cahill and Frank Lampard make up the English representation although I’m sure if John Terry still played for the national side he would be first in that team sheet to partner up Cahill in the defence. Frank gives a good backup role to Gerrard and has been named vice captain, a position Frank truly deserves. As his departure seems to become more likely as each day goes by, for him, this is a great way to end his World Cup career.

For Spain we have Cesar Azpilicueta along with Fernando Torres. A fully deserved spot for our players’ player of the year and I personally think Torres deserved his spot although he got in the squad ahead of Roberto Soldado and Alvaro Negrado.

Andre Schurrle got the nod for the German squad and scored in a 2-2 draw against Cameroon.

Our loanees who might have featured were Kurt Zouma, Van Ginkel, Van Aanolt, Wallace and Marin. Unfortunate for them but they are all young and I’m sure will feature at some time in arguably the most prestigious football competition in the world.
