Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to bid £30 million for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, according to the British newspaper Sunday People.
The 22 year old defensive midfielder who has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent weeks admitted that he would consider a move away from Sporting Lisbon this summer.
Speaking about his future, Carvalho said:
Will I stay at Sporting? I donÂ’t know. IÂ’m going back to Portugal and then weÂ’ll see.
Portugal youngster Carvalho is expected to meet with Sporting president Bruno De Carvalho early this week to discuss his future.
Carvalho has a release clause of £37.5 million in his contract at Sporting but Chelsea will be hoping to get him on cheap by sending the player in the opposite direction on loan.
Jose Mourinho is also pursuing French midfielder Paul Pogba to strengthen his side for next season and Chelsea are considering paying Juventus £60m for the 21-year-old.
