Thibaut Courtois to discuss future after Champions League final

Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he is still in the dark over his future and insists that a decision will be made only after the Champions League final.

Courtois, who is on loan at Atletico Madrid, admits that Chelsea is yet to make a decision about his future, but he warned that he will not accept playing second fiddle to long-serving No.1 Petr Cech.

Stat Attack: Thibaut Courtois has kept 20 clean-sheets in La Liga this season, more than any other Premier League goalkeeper.

Speaking after Atletico Madrid claimed La Liga, Courtois said: “It’s a great feeling to be champion of Spain. I am not sure yet what happens next season. We have the Champions League final [on Saturday] and then the World Cup, so now is not the time to think of the future. I have two years contract [left] with Chelsea, so we will see.

“If I move somewhere, I will play. With my age, what I want, the most important thing for me, is to play. We will see what happens. But Petr [Cech] is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he won the golden glove in the Premier League, and I have a lot of respect for him, so we will see what Chelsea decide and what they plan to do. You guys will see the decision [then].”

The 22-year-old goalkeeper is already considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world and Jose Mourinho wants Courtois to return from his Atletico Madrid loan spell and start pre-season as No.1.

According to Cadena Cope journalist Manolo Lama, Thibaut Courtois will play next season for Chelsea after the Belgium goalkeeper received a call from Jose Mourinho who assured that Courtois will be selected for the London club ahead of Petr Cech.
