Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has stated that comparisons between him and Lukaku have to stop.
Speaking to SportWereld, the fomer Chelsea man highlighted his thoughts on the 20-year old.
“It flatters me that I am Romelu’s idol, I called him last weekend. But everyone needs to stop comparing us. We are both big and strong, but he has qualities that I did not and vice versa. Although he still has time to also get them. At nineteen he was already at Chelsea, I was at Le Mans.”
The Chelsea legend also spoke about Eden Hazard, stating he wasn’t surprised at his recent show of quality:
“Hazard is also doing very well at Chelsea. But that’s no surprise to me, he showed those qualities already in France. “
There have been reports of Drogba picking up a staff role at Chelsea but those rumours have died down.
There’s no denying that Drogba being at the club as a staff would have been great for Lukaku’s all-round development.
