Mourinho backs Salah

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has backed Mohamed Salah to “breakthrough” at the club next season.

While performing his ambassadorial duties for horologists, Hublot, Mourinho spoke to French newspaper, Le Matin and gave his thoughts on Salah:

“You know, playing at Stamford Bridge is not the same as playing for FC Basel. With Basel, you play to you enjoy your time and you have nothing to lose.

With the blue shirt on your shoulders, you have 40,000 people that you are required to please. Everyone wants you to be decisive, at all times.”

The Chelsea manager has also tried to assuage the pressure on the Egypt international: “So I think Mohamed needs six months to adapt our game and the demands of the Premier League. So I am calm and telling him he has time because we have confidence in him. I think next season for Mohamed Salah will be his breakthrough season.”

Salah has made three substitute appearances for Chelsea since his move from Basel in January but has failed to make an impression at the club.

It’s certain that he’ll play a vital role in the closing stages of the season with so many games and opportunities coming up.
