Matic set to join Chelsea this week

Nemanja Matic, who is set to join Chelsea in the imminent future, has addressed the Benfica supporters insisting the time is right to join a ‘club he loves’ that plays in a ‘better league’.

Matic is a former Chelsea player

The former Blues player, who was used in a makeweight deal to bring the cavalier David Luiz to Stamford Bridge has since flourished in Portugal, attracting attention from Premier League holders, Manchester United among others.

The 25 year old is billed to bring added athleticism and steel to Chelsea’s midfield and was also a nominee for the Puskas Goal of the Year award, where he absolutely rifled a volley into the top corner.

The Serb is an exciting prospect and one that will soon endear the Chelsea supporters with his hard tackling and progressive passing, if he hasn’t already with his generous quotes towards Mourinho’s side,

“I want to improve, I want to play in a better league and I want to go to Chelsea, a club I also love.”

“I would also like to thank Benfica’s president, he did everything he could to keep me, but I wanted to leave.

Matic: Its the right time

“I insisted on leaving because I think this is the right moment.”

Matic’s time at theEstádio De Luz has catapulted him into the footballing limelight and we can only hope his second berth at the Bridge is more fruitful than the last.

The Serb will be joining for around £20.7 million and is set for his medical on Tuesday.
